I have a sssmmmmaaaalllll suggestion
Lubuntu's software center is an interesting one. it is lighter than Ubuntu software center and I feel it is more end user friendly.

Software center in PinGuy should be as simple as possible.

1. Like Lubuntu SC, there should be Basic and Advanced modes

Basic mode should contain only one file (better a meta package -atleast of popular apps) per software / app i.e. no lib files. They should be hidden. XP users are not aware library concept.

2. SC should be able to select more than one app for install / uninstall.

3. SC ability to reinstall app and show the location of .deb file, every time SC should not download an app from net, if same version is already downloaded.

4. Backup of downloaded .deb files or meta packages. Everyone does not unlimited broad band specially in India. Broadband is classified as anything above 256 kbps
So in case one needs to reinstall OS (in case of fresh install), this is really helpful.

5. show download status in % in main screen

6. Option to stop downloading on main site and to stop bulk downloading.

7. only upgrade core system and not apps. Only one command to upgrade core component.

Update manager

1. Separate apps i.e. 3rd party and core components and security upgrades

2. Option to ignore an upgrades.

3. warning while upgrading kernel. Kernel upgrades should be shown in a separate window.

Pros:
+ very true about hiding all libs. I hate having to look at them when looking for something I really need.
+ newbie friendly and light (slightly faster than synaptic and much faster than the new Ubuntu software center of course )
Cons:
For I'm using 11.10, I have no idea how this software center's gonna look on the previous version. These cons might not be true so correct me if I'm wrong.
+ this app make a freeze list of popular apps for regular using, which cannot be reloaded like in synaptic.
+ for the above con, I don't see many apps like Opera, gnome-extension (for gnome 3) and some more.
+ it takes forever in expert mode to see the app list of Internet and some other categories. The only category that works in expert mode is All.

This is why I said, Lubuntu Type an not Lubuntu software center.

i.e. All goodies of LSC + some more

Hmm, I already tested Lubuntu including the package manager, but for me the best package manager / package system is pacman, I know that is almost impossible to integrate it on PinguyOS but for stability and speed pacman wins..

About your suggestion is pretty nice, since the main goal of the PinguyOS is the facility of use.
