My First Comment About This:

We also have small PC's coming out like the Raspberry Pi that would be a lot better to install Ubuntu on and carry around with us then dual booting Ubuntu on are Andriod phones.

Where I can see this doing well is on the Tablets. As this is Marks main goal you can see where this makes sense. Getting hardware manufacturers to install Ubuntu over Andriod is a hard sell. By allowing people to install Ubuntu on their Tablets along side their Andriod OS makes more sense and could do pretty well. I think the main thing that will push this and make people "Want" to install Ubuntu on their Andriod tablet is the Ubuntu TV.

As nearly all Tablets have a HDMI out and run ARM processors that can handle DRM on the chip (Netflix ect.) this is the ideal platform to push Ubuntu TV on. This is the easiest way to get the product out to the masses on the cheap as every Andriod Tablet could become a Ubuntu TV device.

Second Comment after having more of a think about it:

I am finding it a bit hard trying to picture PC monitors and keyboards all over the place with no Desktop PC, just cables waiting for a Phone
but if this does work out (and I think it will) this is what will become the norm. You just keep your PC around with you at all times, and when you need to do work/multitasking you plug it up to a Android PC Docking Station.

As long as Canonical don't upset Google when they release the Ubuntu Phone (Google may block Ubuntu on Android because of rivalry) and Phone hardware gets to the stage where they come with 4GBs of memory. This is what I can see becoming the norm.

I am starting to think all homes will have in the near future is one main PC/Server and everyone in the house uses their phone to grab items of it. eg. Subsonic and Upnp/DNLA.

Hi Pinguy, I have to say I agree with you entirely, and it goes on to show the trend that Canonical & others have been on, one interface/system-many platforms. I can see some good stuff coming out of this, but already I have to ask, ARE we really ready for it? The backlash against Unity and Gnome3 has as much to do with both aiming for "touch centric" feel (on touch screens), as it does for their departure from Gnome2 and what users expected. Raspberry PI....... I'm not aware of any chassis/cases for this "bare-bones" form factor, but it would be nice if there was some, as carrying around a "naked" Raspberry Pi loaded with Ubuntu (or PinguyPi) would be problematic (think of all the "fluff" we carry around in bags & rucksacks). Along with the Cortex A9 you have the upcoming Mali T600 GPGPU from ARM as well, which could find themselves in the next gen of Tablets/Ultrabooks.

Everything needs a beginning, even when it may sound crazy. That Ubuntu is taking on phones is a good news to me when the market of OS for Desktops is getting harder. I believe Mark won't drop this project anytime soon but neither will he put much attention to this at the moment.

Elias, I'm not sure what you mean by "Pinguy for Andriod" unless you mean a Pinguy 'spin' on Android, a PingDroid so to speak
Remember, Android is an OS specifically designed for use with ARM processors (as ARM is the most used processor type in the mobile hardware market, and there are MANY different types of ARM CPU's out there) PinguyOS is a 'spin' of Ubuntu, and that is a x86 OS for use on x86 processors from the likes of Intel and AMD etc.
Have a look at the Android x86 Project, you will see a lot of guys modifying Android to work on various makes and types of desktop/laptop and tablet. No-one seems yet to have developed a 'standard' ISO of Android that will run an any and all hardware in the x86 enviroment. Which is kind of a shame, because all that work at the x86 Project would be more productive, rather than spending time just trying to get Ice Cream Sandwich or Gingerbread or Honeycomb running on one piece of hardware, whether it is a Dell, or a HP or Lenovo,whatever
But I do like the way you think, a PinguyOS version of Android would be really cool

When i read Ubuntu for android i thought it was a replacement for android and not a non phone compatible OS for virtual PC use.

LoL, Ubuntu for Android is not a replacement, it is a GUEST on an Android phone.
I guess that one day there will be a specific Ubuntu OS designed for ARM ( not a bad idea, by the way).Ubuntu on an Android phone is just a way for you to connect to your TV ( if using Ubuntu TV) or PC/Laptop, if you need to access on the go.
At least that is my take on it. But now you have me imagening a PingDroid system,(NO, I am nowhere near competant to do some thing that ambitious)
