I have a problem with canon mp 190 drivers. I can print pages but i can't scan. Can you help me?

Changes made so far.

Added new theme that works with Gnome 3.8

Hello there

Iam a bit of a linux/pinguy os noob here, so please forgive me for my sins! I have downloaded the 64-bit pinguy os 12.04 file, and i am trying to make a bootable usb pendrive so i can transfer the iso file from this pc i have downloaded it onto (which is a Windows 7 OS) and i have used the Universal usb installer 1.9.3.3 to make the usb pendrive.

Now i thought i have done things right, formatted the usb drive and then created (so i thought!) the iso file, but i came to insert the usb pen drive into my laptop, selected to boot from the usb drive and it came up with the following -

ERROR- No configuration file found Followed by - No DEFAULT or UI configuration Directive found! So What have i done wrong exactly? :/

i've just installed pinguy OS 12.04 and the only problem i have is the download speed in torrent. I can't download with more than 70-80kb...in windows i can download with ~8-9mb

Hi all,

I just downloaded via a torrent client from the ISO file of [Pinguy_OS_12.04-shell-x86-64.iso].
Prior writing it to a DVD I wish to perform a MD5 check.
Where can I find the corresponding MD5?

Live CD/USB login issue

Hi, I just downloaded and burned and ISO using infrarecorder and also used Unetbooting to make a bootable Pinguy OS 13 USB stick.
Trying the lice CD/USB but both of them ask me for a login password,

I did read this but it did not help.

What else can I do, I tried the obvious passwords like root, Root ROOT, guest, Guest, Live, live...nothing works..

Hi all,

this has me stumped for quite some time now, there is a small gap between any open window and the top panel!!.

System is Pinguy 12.04 64 Bit with ATI (FGLRX) drivers installed and fully up-to-date.

Fonts are set to 1.1 on the scale thingy in advanced settings!!.

Theme is Gnomish Gray.

architecture issues

Not sure but seems I may be experiencing architecture or compatability problems installing linux in general.

My Ubuntu 10.04 lts was fine until my old asus board decided to smoke.

So I bought a Gigabyte 970a-d3

Heres what I have done so far:

Tried Live boot: Ubuntu 10.04 lts, 12.04 lts, 12.10, 13.04
some of these will boot to the login then lock up the keyboard and mouse while others end in initramfs error or plain stall at the Ubuntu with the 5 dots blinking. Each of these i have tried both 32 and 64 bit architectures.

Pinguy 0s will make it to the live boot screen then end in the initramfs error with no prompt. I would really prefer to try pinguy if I can get it installed or even booted into.

Is there something I can do to correct this based on these symptoms?

My original hdd with the Ubuntu 10.04 lts (32 bit) did not at first boot I ran in recovery safe mode and it corrected its self in that mode but regular boot ended Ubuntu with blinking dots.

Oh, I tried to post this before but I don't think it went or i haven't found it. Sorry to be a bother.

Is there a prefered download site to get Good iso's on I have been wondering if I have been getting good copies.

I saw this question asked, and it did not help me. Sorry, excuse my manners - Hello to all!!

I have no restart/ option in...anywhere...

I can not right-click on the menu - because the regular menu opens.
I do not have a "PinguyOS" symbol on my desktop.
I can not find a "Mint menu" to add as suggested.
I feel like I'm missing something simple - but after a couple of days of trying different things, I give up...any new suggestions?? any and all suggestions are genuinely appreciated.

Hi

I am currently using Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell XPS L701X Laptop (Intel Core i5 M560@2.67GHz) but really want to migrate to Linux. I've tried Ubuntu which I like but can't get my Lexmark 3600-4600 series printer to work. I'm not tech savvy and there was simply too much messing with code etc to even come close to it working.

Does anyone know if this printer will work with Pinguy OS or will I have to spend massive amounts of time typing code and it still not working?

Any ideas much appreciated, thanks

AverMedia H339 Analog/DVB Tuner

Hi,

I am currently using Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell XPS L701X Laptop (Intel Core i5 M560@2.67GHz) with amongst other things a built in AverMedia H339 Analog/DVB Tuner.

I really want to migrate to Linux having tried (and liked) Ubuntu but couldn't find an easy way of getting my DVB tuner to work. I'm not very tech savvy and there was simply too much messing around needed to get close to it working on Ubuntu - actually so much so I just gave up! I see from Pinguy's intro that it supports various multimedia programs and wanted to know if it will work with my DVB tuner and if so how to get it working.

Any replies would be much appreciated, thanks!

Idea #30735: toggle unity panel autohide or intellihide

IF the ubuntu philosophy is to have a "clean" "elegant" desktop, free of clutter, some users want to use their entire screen for their content, especially since so many laptops are in use these days.

it irks me that i cannot autohide the top panel like i have always been able to do in linux(until unity/gnome3). give us back this choice, but with an improvement.

it would be more consistent with the design philosophy of ubuntu touch. clean desktop where content is king, with the panel out of the way until you need it.

Solution #1: add a setting to the appearance settings

there would be an option with a clear graphic that you are changing the behavior of the top panel.

the options would be, autohide, intellihide and double click to toggle autohide/intellihide.

maybe a popup button to select the panel's behavior, with a checkbox/radiobutton for toggle, and a slider for reveal sensitivity, like the dock.

if you believe this functionality is useful to users while still preserving the current defaults, please add some votes to this idea. it is currently marked as a duplicate, but it's not a duplicate of the other idea at all, not even close.

Pinguy's 13.04 going great 1 1/2 hrs, as we all do, I customized to my liking

1. Maly's Glass-art user theme and Mac Theme for the buttons
2. Extensions Dash to Dock and Workspaces to dock (both normally 'hiding')
3. Extension 'Slingshot' for Applications and 'Places' obviously for Places
4. Cairo-dock

Couple of things you need to know.

To login you need to hit enter twice.
Once on the: Live Session
Then again on the password box: Keep it blank

Once in the live session open Tweak Tool and change the GTK Theme to Adwaita.
So the wallpaper isn't white: It's a bug with themes not made for Gnome 3.8.1

Its not using the PAE kernel by default. This is so you can install it on a system that can't support PAE (the memory foot print is pretty small with this release so will work on older hardware).

But if you are connected to the Internet when installing and the system supports PAE it will download and install the PAE kernel automatically.

I have only released the 32-bit version so I can get as many testers as possible to give me feedback.

Once the OS is at the beta stage I will release both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. At the moment I just need testers and feedback.

The main thing I need is theme'ers. I need people to make themes for Gnome 3.8.1.
